East Belfast Shortlisted for Lottery Millions

The Connswater Community Greenway is still in the running to receive a grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Living Landmarks programme.  

The Connswater Community Greenway is a vast project connecting 379 acres of public open space, building 43 bridges and 19kms of cycle and walkways. It will provide immediate benefits to an estimated 40,835 people living adjacent to the greenway, improving the living environment and providing opportunities for leisure, exercise, recreation and supporting healthier lifestyles.

Minister Ritchie, Lord Mayor Jim Rodgers and Duke Special were amongst the guests at the Stormont breakfast.

TV presenter and MS Society Patron, Donna Traynor today helped launch what is thought to be East Belfast’s first ever Duck Derby which will be held at 1pm on Saturday 28th April at Connswater Shopping Centre.

Planning Students at Queen’s University Belfast Get Involved Second year students studying on the BSc in Environmental Planning are undertaking a practical project on the Connswater Community Greenway as part of their studies. 

Community Consultations Held

In order that the views of local East Belfast communities can be recorded and influence the planning process, East Belfast Community Development Agency (EBCDA) will be running a series of community consultations in relation to the Connswater Community Greenway in various locations in East Belfast throughout January 2007.
