Works continue on construction of the Greenway with paths forming, flood alleviation works and some partial road closures

Our contractor continues to make great progress along the Connswater Community Greenway, with Flood Alleviation works rapidly advancing as flood walls are installed in multiple work sites.

In the Avoniel / Bloomfield area piling works have been completed, piles have been broken out and steel fixing has taken place to allow concreting works to start on the reinforced concrete flood walls. A Redi-Rock wall is also taking shape on the Avoniel Park side of the Connswater River, adding to the areas flood defences.

Public asked to name bridges and new pathway along the Connswater Community Greenway

The Connswater Community Greenway in partnership with Belfast City Council is giving the public the opportunity to officially name the three bridges within Greenville Park and Orangefield Park, and the new greenway pathway that extends from Orangefield Park to the Braniel .

We brought you on a Hard Hat Tour of the new unopened sections of the Greenway...

On Thursday 14th January we went on our second Connswater Community Greenway Hard Hat Bus Tour to see the developments of the new sections of the Connswater Community Greenway. 
During the day we explored the new sections including; The Hollow at Elmgrove (section C6); section C5, Dixon Playing Fields, and also the C.S. Lewis Square.

Connswater Community Greenway Construction update for the year ahead…

2016 is set to be another very exciting year for Connswater Community Greenway with construction moving full steam ahead.
In 2015, Farrans Construction (our contractor) commenced Phase 2 construction across east Belfast making excellent progress. This year construction currently focuses over 13 sites, with the completion of the 16km Greenway estimated for the end of 2016. Once complete, you will be able to walk and cycle through east Belfast avoiding busy roads and traffic.

Cregagh Glen works due to commence resulting in temporary closure

In just under two weeks we will be starting improvement works on the Cregagh Glen as part of the construction of the Connswater Community Greenway.

Unfortunately, due to these improvement works on paths and bridges, walkways will be closed from week beginning Monday 1 February 2016 for approx. 7 weeks. Following these closures works may be ongoing in the area with pedestrian diversions in place.
